About Us

More About the FLUX Global Policy Center

FLUX is the first and only Global Trans-led initiative of its kind. The organization's vast expansion continues to accelerate, reflecting the sustained passion of Transgender, Gender-nonconforming, and Intersex (TGI) leaders. Built from the legacy of early LGBTQ+ activists, particularly Trans women of color like Marsha P. Johnson & Sylvia Rivera, and the namesake of the home of the Global Policy Center, Connie Norman, FLUX carries forward the lineage of queer liberation.

As part of its growth, FLUX recently launched the Global Policy Center to support candidates and advocates engaging with issues impacting the TGI community, providing a clear understanding of the relevant policy landscape so they can respond with precision and confidence.

The newly formed FLUX Global Policy Center will continuously monitor and analyze policy developments in all areas, from healthcare, housing, workforce development, and education to legislation, societal acceptance, and equality worldwide that affect TGI communities. The Center will provide resources to both educate and help navigate topics related to them.

Navigating TGI Questions: A Candidate's Q&A Guide

Our objective is to help candidates maintain moral clarity while earning and retaining the support of Democratic and Independent voters. There is no legitimate "other side" to these questions, just as there is no legitimate "other side" to the humanity of transgender and non-binary American citizens. Questions framed around this community are, in practice, a strategy for dehumanizing transgender and non-binary citizens, who are themselves voters and constituents.

Many initiatives opposing TGI rights are financed by organizations whose stated aim is the elimination of these communities altogether. Engaging with "fairness and safety" framing on their terms, however well-intentioned, ultimately advances those funders' objectives. A good-faith effort at rational discussion should not be expected to be met in kind, so long as opposition messaging is shaped by these funding sources. There is no rational debate to be had regarding the humanity of any group of people.

The distinction in how voters evaluate candidates is instructive: Democratic voters evaluate candidates based on their values. Republican voters evaluate candidates based on party loyalty. Independent voters observe both parties and make judgments accordingly.

The Numbers

Keep in mind that if asking about TGI issues was really WAS about fairness, then the questioner would consider the ratio of money spent to the number of Trans and Non-binary people that are actually in their political areas.

1.6%

1.6% of any population is TGI.

1 in 100

That's 1 person in 100.
